NHTD and TBI Waiver Programs

Medicaid and Managed Care have begun to implement state-wide waiver programs designed to promote greater independence and well-being for program participants, and more seamless integration into the community.

Two such waiver programs are the NHTD (Nursing Home Transition and Diversion) Waiver Program and the TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) Waiver Program.

NY providers and organizations who wish to serve these participants must submit a detailed application, supply a set of stand-alone policies specific to the waiver program they are applying for, and obtain an appropriate Medicaid provider number.

Who Can Provide Waiver Program Services? 

The NHTD and TBI Waiver programs allow for reimbursements in multiple categories to a variety of service providers. Providers of home health care, nursing and medical services, rehabilitation, community and housing services are well-positioned to apply for and receive approval to serve participants in these waiver programs.
